In May 2007, on the initiative of the FEB, Euronext Brussels, CBFA and the other founding members, the Committee became a private foundation and was expanded to include certain stakeholders, such as the Institute of Registered Auditors and the Central Economic Council.
The Committee's main objective is to ensure that the Code's provisions remain relevant to listed companies and are regularly updated in line with practice, legislation and international standards. The 2009 Code is part of this process.
In June 2010, the legislator decides to call out the Code 2009 as thé reference code for listed companies in function of the implementation of the European Directive 2006/46/EC introducing the corporate governance statement.
