16/08/11

On April 5th, the European Commission published its green paper concerning the EU corporate governance framework. The European Commission has launched hereby a public consultation that addresses the ways in which corporate governance of European companies can be improved. The consultation covers a number of issues, mainly concerning boards of directors, shareholders and the 'comply or explain' principle. However, within the 25 questions put forward to the stakeholders, the European Commission also puts forward some general questions regarding corporate governance.

The  Corporate Governance Committee has decided to react to the public consultation but has limited its reaction to the questions regarding the 'comply or explain' principle.
