The European Commission has published a proposal for a directive amending Directive (EU) 2017/1132 regarding the use of digital tools and processes in company law. The purpose of the amendments is broadly to remove significant additional regulatory burdens associated with registration, filing or access to company data incurred by applicants when registering companies or branches in other member states, and to ensure that cross-border registration of companies and branches can be performed in a more cost-effective way through online means.
